DREAM: I walk into a specialty store—wide room. The lights are off. Asking the lady at the register where something is. Searching for a hair product—shampoo bottles of Paul Mitchell sitting on the shelf. Maybe I’m looking for pet food too? It’s time to get out of here. I’m alone—the lady at the register is gone as well as any customers or employees. Walking back to an aisle where I find dogs and cats sleeping on the shelves—they’re waiting for their respective owners to return. I find Mandy (a white Eskimo spitz dog whom my parents and I owned years ago but died of old age). I say in a quiet but excited voice, “Mandy!” She looks up with a happy face—tongue hanging out. “C’mon! Let’s go.” She climbs out from her spot and runs. Coming back to the center of the room I realize just how alone I am, and all the doors are locked, and it’s dark. The idea of Mandy is gone too. But someone or something else is there. I sense…another presence. That ticklish vibrating feeling starts in my stomach—the feeling I used to get when I had nightmares. There’s only one way out. Up. Floating high above the store and through the roof. I hover just above the building. I can see through the roof just enough to distinguish which room is which. I pass by the store a few times and each time it feels uncomfortable—like something is pulling me down. I fight it off and decide to just blast through the air, away from everything.
Just after 5 p.m. I wake up.
