Getting out of bed at 11:15 a.m.
Pluot.
All day shift at China Wok.
Boring lunch shift. Delivering two orders in a time span of three
hours.
Bagging the fried noodles.
Uploading music on Aysena’s iPod for her enjoyment.
Scrambled Eggs. Five Guys French Fries. Honey Green Tea.
Baffled by this article...
Delivering an order in Emerald Point. I pass by two teenage
girls holding signs about breast cancer and wearing shirts revealing their
bellies purposefully. One of them shouts to me, “Save boobs!!!”
The day continues into the night. It’s a slow shift for
business considering I’ve probably taken only half the orders I would usually
on a busy day. However, the tips are very generous.
Belgian Milk Chocolate Bar.
Rachel and Kelley Hoyer make an appearance at the restaurant
towards the end. They ride around with me on the last of my deliveries.
Rachel: “The difference between people in Virginia Beach and
people in Norfolk is everybody in Norfolk is on coke.”
...
They order food and I decide to join them at a table. We’re
a cute little China Wok family eating dinner together.
Shrimp with Broccoli, Snow Peas, Onions, and Rice in Garlic
Sauce, with a Coke.
Referring to the soda I chose to drink, “I haven’t had one
of these in at least six months.”
...
Rachel and Kelley’s drink choices include a Fresca and a Diet
Coke.
Me: “That shit is straight up poison. Aspartame! You’re
gonna lose your memory and get dementia by your 50’s.”
Rachel, amused by my prediction of their futures, retorts,
“That doesn’t sound that bad.”
Back home.
Cleaning up.
At the storage unit organizing things. Practicing a few
songs.
Biscuits with Fig Butter.
Sleep 4:30 a.m.
