There’s a lion’s den. Somebody opens up the heavy hatch
door. I see people that have been locked down there for a long time. They cover
their eyes from the brightness. I guess they’re free to go now but they seem
delirious. I find a microphone of mine that I apparently left inside this den.
While analyzing it I notice a spider has taken up residence behind the metal
screen. He’s situated perfectly in the center. For some reason the idea of him
being there forever is appealing to me, the fact that every time somebody sings
into it the sounds will permeate his body. He will hear all things.

Waking up at 11:05 a.m.
Instant Oatmeal with Blueberries. Coffee with Milk and
Honey.
All day shift at China Wok.
Small Lentil Sandwich. Five Guys French Fries with Ketchup.
Raspberry Lemonade.
I’m not used to working on Fridays as Darren usually works
them, but we switched this week. I didn’t realize how much worse the traffic in
Hilltop could get. Friday is still a weekday so the typical business/school
traffic applies but because it’s the last day before the weekend somehow makes
people much busier as they’re rushing to get last minute errands done. I mean
it actually took me at least 25 minutes to deliver an order that’s only a mile
away. It’s crazy.
Kona Coffee Shortbread.
Delivering an order to the Best Western at the beach. 6th
floor. A mother’s little girl answers the door. She hands me a crayon drawing
of a cup of coffee and says, “You want some coffee?”
Me: “Oh yes. Thank you.”
Best tip I got all day.
The tips get shittier as the night dwindles.
Off work and home.
Hot and Sour Soup with Fried Noodles and Broccoli.
Watching Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003).
Arguments about music downstairs with Kevin and Darren.
Sleep 3:30 a.m.
