Love Affair With the Sun Photo Art. Ban Soleil (1966).[i]

Waking up at 10:40 a.m.

Strawberry Toaster Pastries. Orange Juice.

All day shift at China Wok.

A pot bellied white man and a short Asian lady with a Bluetooth in her ear are waiting at a table when I walk into the restaurant. I have no choice but to listen to their broken conversation. The lady speaks with a heavy accent and an absentminded loud mouth, a sound that really disturbs me. The man engages with her in utter appeasement, the kind of personality that will constantly nod his head and overly agree with anything the other person says. He keeps repeating things because she keeps talking and never really listens. The phone rings and I have to cup one ear in order to hear the customer on the phone because of how obnoxious these people’s interaction are. Maybe I’m not so much annoyed as I am just entertained.

70 degrees Fahrenheit outside! It has to be the first official day of Spring, or at least it’s the first I’ve experienced this year. The ice cream trucks are cruising through the neighborhoods with the “Entertainer” song on repeat. The church bells are ringing as I hop onto the First Colonial interstate ramp. The sight of more bicyclists and skateboarders is normal. Hello, Sun.

Mesquite Almonds. Edamame Crackers with Tomato and Hummus. Brown Rice Green Tea.

Delivering only about two orders in a matter of four hours. Slow as a mug. I’m just sitting here snapping the snow peas and thinking about life.

Christine Rucker stops in to discuss the planning of a Show N Tell at Bean There coffee shop where she works.

Snacking on an Orange.

The “slow as a mug” spell continues. It’s just easy driving and delivering.

Vegetable Lo Mein with Egg.

Off work.

Sugar Cookies and Hot Chocolate.

Watching The Departed (2006).

Sleep 3 a.m.
