Waking up at 10:30 a.m.
Honey Crunch n Oats with Almond Milk.
All day shift at China Wok.
Grapefruit.
It's another hot one today – spraying the sunscreen on liberally.
Sesame Bagel with Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam. Potato Chips. Honey Green Tea.
Delivering an order to an apartment house off First Colonial. A black lady answers the door quietly. I overhear somebody inside announce jokingly, "Everybody freeze! It's a white guy."
What? Why would you say that? I respond in my head. I realize the intention was to simply crack a joke. But it didn't come off well. By continuing to make jokes like this only perpetuates racial tension. God, our culture is so screwed up.
KIND Dark Chocolate Pecan Bar. Banana.
Orange Juice.
Off work and back home.
Tofu with Mixed Vegetables and Garlic Sauce. Milk Chocolate.
Watching Lords of Dogtown (2005).
After 2 a.m. I take off on a night ride to the oceanfront. It's the best time to cycle cause all the bars have let out giving you a front row seat to watch the inebriated freak show. I swear it's like a carnival ride. Passing a young couple slobbering all over each other's faces. Passing a man vigorously shaking a light pole with determination in hopes to tear it down. Passing a gang of beat boxers. Passing through a cloud of bubbles blown by another biker trying to get a cool picture of the wind blowing them. Passing homeless person after person sleeping on the boardwalk benches.
Back home.
Sleep 4 a.m.
