Waking up bright and early at 9:35 a.m. Ana and I drop my car off at Lee Papa's body shop for some minor repairs. Then, she drops me off at my chiropractor's office but not for an adjustment, this time for an hour-long deep tissue massage. The massage therapist there is really good at what she does. With calming music in the background I stay warm and relaxed underneath the blanket while she massages my upper back and shoulders. It's not meant to be a relaxing massage but focused on smoothing out knots and strains.
Back at the house Ana and I share a hearty breakfast: Irish Oatmeal with Maca Powder, Maple Syrup, Chia Seeds, Blueberries, and Almond Milk; homemade Almond Oat Biscuits with Vegan Cream Cheese and Strawberry Spread (peanut butter and jam for her); and Coffee. Meanwhile, Kevin clobbers down a greasy meaty brunch in the living room with Richie – they've got Blazing Saddles (1974) on the tube. The ping sounds of gunshots and smarmy cowboys keep our ears busy. After breakfast, Ana takes it upon herself to clean the kitchen thoroughly, like real thoroughly, more than it ever has been before. She'll be moving into Darren and Devon's room at the end of the month so I guess it's kind of an initiation.
I take care of business in my room – updating our renter's insurance policy, watering the plants, writing, planning, etc.
Toasted Peanut Butter Sandwich. Olive Oil Potato Chips. Orange Juice.
Picking up my car – had to get a new headlight and new hydraulics on the hood so it will stay put when lifted – then to Music Makers for a bunch of lessons. I've been steadily receiving little Christmas cards from all my students. The Starbucks gift cards are racking up – they must think teachers love coffee. One from one of my voice students, Elly, makes me feel like I'm doing something right.
At the Rec Center for adult basketball getting my cardio on – hustling up and down the court. Three of my teammates are a bit amateur apparent in how to move the ball around and in their shot percentage. But it's all about having fun and for the love of the game, not winning.
I sent Ana a thank you text in regards to all the cleaning and giving me rides. I add at the end, "I'm excited to be sharing a wall with you, roomie."
She responds, "You're very welcome. I want to continue to do things for the house, for me, for you, for us, and for everyone. I know a clean home is a breeding ground for growth and change and clarity in our lives. I love giving and sharing and doing things for you. Anything for you! You are my partner and lova love. I'm excited to share a wall with you too! Our tree is growing! And will continue to! I am so fortunate to have you in my life. I love you so much."
Picking up some food from the Whole Foods bar – it's a little overpriced but I don't feel like cooking whatsoever. Dal Lentil Burger with Quinoa and a heavy Vegetable Soup.
Watching G.I. Jane (1997).
Researching.
