Waking up at noon thirty.
Giving Ana a ride to work cause it's nasty outside.
Steel Cut Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Maca Powder, Strawberries, Maple Syrup, and Kefir. Yerba Mate Tea.
Watching CBGB (2013).
I drive out to a new student's house off Independence. It turns out to be a Chinese family who speaks very little English. The 6-year-old I'm teaching only knows the alphabet and how to count, which is enough to start learning music. The mother helps translate some of what I'm saying to her. I learn that the parents actually run a Chinese restaurant nearby cause the mom has to leave suddenly at the end of the lesson to go to the restaurant.
Picking up some groceries from the Asian Market and Trader Joe's.
Grilled PB&J. Fuji Apple. Potato Chips. Honey Green Tea.
Organizing.
Prepping homemade Spring Rolls with Avocado, Sun-Dried Tomato, Red Onions, Cabbage, Cilantro, and Tofu.
Sitting down at the table with Will and Ana enjoying the Spring Rolls with Spinach Carrot Salads.
With Will, Ana, and Zoe. Driving us out to Norfolk. We scope out the Wolves Den for a little bit – saying hi to Rachel being her usual glitzy and adorable self. Between the four of us we finish a bottle of semi-cheap Champagne I brought. Mutually, we decide to change course to Toast down the street. The back patio is packed to the brim with everyone, friends and strangers, filled with chatty anticipation for the midnight moment when two thousand "sweet" sixteen greets our lives. Ana's getting the jitters for something chocolate – she resembles a person that's addicted to crack – she couldn't make it through a day without consuming some kind of chocolate. The moment approaches and she disappears to the bathroom. Nobody's counting down out loud – we're all just checking our phones till we see "12:00". And then all of a sudden everybody's hollering and holding sparklers. Fireworks go off behind the building. Eventually, Ana makes it back outside and joins the rest of us. I demand a kiss. Even though I was hoping to kiss at midnight this will have to do.
Later on, Ana and I reside at the bar and order dessert Toasts for ourselves.
Back home after a pretty fun night.
Sleep at 4 a.m.
