Waking up at 10:30 a.m. The house is still silent. The power hasn’t come back on. Floods are a major issue in certain areas of VB and Norfolk.
Honey Crunch n’ Oats with a Banana.
And yet, we’re still on for rock school except for one band. Jimmy isn’t available unfortunately. So it’s up to me to hold the reigns. For most of the bands I have to play guitar or bass. After Ana plays drums in the kids band she sticks around to fill in on bass for the adult band. We solidify The Go Go’s “We Got the Beat” and start learning “Love Me Two Times” by The Doors.
Somewhere in between I eat lunch: PB&J, Potato Lentil Curls, and Honey Green Tea.
Back home. Vacuuming up all the diatomaceous earth (and hopefully all the fleas).
Chicken and Dumplings (mom style) with Carrots and Kale.
Ana and I hop in the car and head to Norfolk to visit Phil and Cheongah at Elliott’s. They’re in town for the weekend. No power but Elliott’s got a small generator. In the dim lit living room – sipping on Modelos – playing Pass the Pigs – the second Trump-Hilary debate on in the background. JP and Maria stop by.
Eventually, Phil, Ana, and I move along to Josiah and Bianca’s new pad. Snacking on Popcorn and sipping on Sparkling Wine. It’s nice to just hang out with friends when there’s no event or show I’m responsible for. Just pure camaraderie.
Driving back home – Ana at the wheel – seems like it takes forever to get home with all the flood detours.
Sleep 3:30 a.m.
