Ana drives mom and I out to Norfolk to attend a funeral service for Ana’s grandmother, Jovita. It’s an emotional afternoon for the family. We’re led in song using the Mormon hymnal. One of the songs, “Families Can Be Together Forever” really pulls on everyone’s heart strings. At the podium stories are shared about her grandmother’s time in the Philippines during the war. Ana prepared an original song on the piano – even though she’s on the verge of tears she sings beautifully.
Afterwards, there’s a gathering in the gymnasium over food. We have a good time on the stage with the little ones improving plays and playing musical chairs. It’s easy for me to step right in and orchestrate the kids to do something together.
When Ana starts worrying about calling work to deal with her work schedule my mom brings up a good point: sometimes everything just has to stop even if for only a moment. Life moves on and keeps going but every now and then life has to stop for a minute.
On the drive home Ana and mom decide to take the scenic route (Virginia Beach Boulevard all the way home).
Settling down with Coffee.

Setting up stuff at the rehearsal spot.
